Tax File Number Help

It is important to apply for a Tax File Number (TFN) as soon as possible to ensure your have your TFN submitted on an eCAF on or before the census date to be eligible for HELP assistance. If you do not provide your TFN on your eCAF to the University, you are required to make a full up-front payment of your student contribution/tuition fees to remain enrolled in a unit/s.

To apply for a Tax File Number, complete a Tax File Number application available from the ATO website.

Handy Tip: Please ensure that you retain your lodgement receipt from the Post Office if submitting your TFN application via Australia Post. Alternatively, you can request a Certificate of application for a TFN (evidence of submission of your application request) from the ATO.

You will be required to submit proof of this to your Student Services Centre if you are not provided with your Tax File Number prior to the census date. The ATO suggests that there is normally a 28 day turnaround from the date of application for a TFN.

You have 21 days from the day the ATO issues you a TFN to provide it to the University.
